A reminder to all that the next CAPS meeting is at the Bezazian library, 1226 W. Ainslie, on Wednesday, 8/6, at 7 PM.
One of NUNA’s officers is performing with her band, Canasta, at the Argyle Night Market on Thursday, August 14th, 2014. Come see NUNA Secretary Elizabeth Lindau and Canasta play in an all ages event! The Argyle Market is a free farmer’s market and local food vendor weekly event that starts at 5 pm and runs until 9 pm each Thursday night. Canasta will perform at 6pm at Sheridan and Argyle. To join the group walking over together, meet at the southeast corner of Magnolia and Argyle at 5:50 pm.
Jim DeRogatis of WBEZ’s “Sound Opinions” says: “…Canasta has been one of my favorite Chicago bands for some time now, as well as ranking near the top of my list for the smartest and hardest working groups in town.”
The Argyle Night Market is presented by Business Partners–The Chamber for Uptown, Uptown United, The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, and Alderman Harry Osterman.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 2, 2014. Meet and catch up with your neighbors at our annual summer potluck, rain or shine. There will be a bouncy house for the kids, and a possible fire truck appearance and bags tournament. Share stories and photos of neighborhood history for a new project at Bezazian Library. Buy tickets for the raffle for your chance to win various prizes. Join or renew your NUNA membership at the party, too.
Bring a potluck dish to share (snack foods, dessert, soft drinks, side dishes, etc.), or feel free to set up a grill. Adult beverages are BYO. Bring chairs, bottled water, silverware, plates and cups (non-Styrofoam if possible).
NUNA members are collecting toiletries at the block party to donate to Sarah’s Circle, a non-profit agency serving women who are homeless or in need of a safe place. Sarah’s Circle is located in our community.
When: August 2, 2:00 – 8:00 pm
Where: Magnolia Avenue between Argyle and Bezazian Library parking lot
Who: NUNA members, neighbors and friends
Note that there will be no parking on Magnolia from noon to 9:00 pm on August 2. Cars may be towed.

What do we love most about our neighborhood? Is it the cheap air at the carwash at Gunnison and Broadway?
